Contracts & litigation management for banks

Every contract and every case, in one place your bank controls.

SAPLZ gives legal, procurement and litigation teams one system of record, from the first contract request to the last appeal. It runs on your own servers, behind your own controls, and answers the questions auditors and the board actually ask.

  • Deployed on-premises, at your primary and DR sites
  • Designed around SBP IT and cyber security expectations
  • Built in Islamabad by Wolfiz Solutions

The problem

In most banks, contracts live in shared drives, branch cupboards and email threads. Case files live with dozens of panel advocates. When the regulator, the auditor or the board asks a simple question, someone spends a week answering it.

SAPLZ is built so the answer is one search away.

§ 01

Contract lifecycle

From request to renewal,
nothing lives in an inbox.

A business unit asks for a contract. Legal drafts it from approved templates. It is approved by the right people in the right order, signed, stored, searched and watched until the day it renews or ends.

  1. 01Request
  2. 02Draft
  3. 03Approve
  4. 04Sign
  5. 05Store
  6. 06Perform
  7. 07Renew or exit
Fig. 2.1 Repository search reads inside signed scans as well as Word files, so a clause can be found across the whole portfolio.
Requests and intake
Business units raise a contract request through a form that asks the right questions up front: value, term, data sharing, outsourcing. Legal sees a queue, not an inbox.
Drafting from your own standards
Approved templates and a clause library with fallback positions. Deviations from standard wording are highlighted for the reviewer.
Multi-level approvals
Routes built from your delegation of authority: by value, department, contract type or risk. Every approval, comment and version is kept.
E-signature
Send for signature through a licensed certification service provider, or record wet-ink execution and upload the signed copy.
Central repository with OCR
Legacy scans are made searchable. Metadata, versions, amendments and related documents sit together on one record.
Obligations, renewals and expiry
Payment milestones, SLAs, insurance and notice periods become dated obligations with owners. Alerts go out before notice windows close, not after.
Vendors and counterparties
One record per counterparty with every contract, contact, dispute and outsourcing classification attached.
Fig. 2.2 Approval routes follow your delegation of authority.
Fig. 2.3 Obligations have dates and owners, so notice periods are not missed.

§ 02

Litigation

Know every case, every forum
and every date before it arrives.

Recovery suits in the Banking Courts, writ petitions in the High Courts, complaints before the Banking Mohtasib, service matters, appeals. SAPLZ keeps the whole docket in one place, with the counsel, the costs and the exposure attached.

Fig. 3.1 The week's hearings across every forum, with today's cause list items matched to the bank's cases.
Case intake
Open a case from a legal notice, a plaint or a recovery referral. Parties, accounts, branches and related contracts are linked from day one.
Hearings and cause lists
A shared hearings calendar, next dates recorded after every appearance, and reminders to counsel and the case officer.
Counsel and fees
Panel advocates, assignments, fee schedules, bills and payments, so cost per case is known and comparable.
Courts and forums
Banking Courts, civil courts, High Courts and their benches, the Supreme Court, tribunals, the Banking Mohtasib and regulators, each with its own stages.
Provisions and contingent liabilities
Record the claim, the likely outcome and the provision, and give finance a defensible contingent liabilities schedule for the accounts.
Judgments and appeals
Orders and judgments on the record, limitation dates for appeal calculated, and the appeal tracked as its own linked case.

Platform

Shaped to how your bank
already works.

Every bank has its own delegation of authority, its own committees and its own reporting lines. SAPLZ is configured to them, not the other way round.

Workflow engine

Design approval routes, review steps and escalations visually. Conditions use the data on the record: contract value, department, counterparty type, whether it is an outsourcing arrangement. Change a route when policy changes, without a software release.

  • Parallel and sequential steps, with delegation when someone is on leave
  • Time limits and escalation to the next level
  • Versioned routes, so past approvals show the rules that applied then
Fig. 4.1 A conditional route, edited by an administrator.

A private AI assistant

SAPLZ's assistant runs on a language model hosted inside your data centre. Documents are never sent to an outside service. It reads contracts and case files and does the slow first pass, and a lawyer stays in charge of the result.

  • Clause and metadata extraction from new and legacy contracts
  • Risk flags against your clause library and playbook
  • Plain summaries of contracts, orders and long case files
Fig. 4.2 Extraction and risk flags, produced on the bank's own hardware.

Reports and dashboards

Live views for the legal function and scheduled packs for the people it reports to. Every figure drills down to the records behind it, and every report exports to Excel and PDF.

Security and integration

Your documents never leave
your data centre.

Contracts and case files are among the most sensitive records a bank holds. SAPLZ is installed on your infrastructure and built to pass an information security review, not to work around one.

On-premises by design

Application, database, document store and AI model all run on servers you own, at your primary and disaster recovery sites. No cloud dependency.

Role-based access

Access by role, department, branch and matter. Sensitive cases can be ring-fenced to named users. Least privilege is the default.

Multi-factor authentication

MFA for every user, on top of single sign-on with your directory. Session and password policies follow your standards.

Complete audit trail

Every view, download, edit, approval and export is logged with user, time and source. Logs can be sent to your SIEM.

Encryption

TLS in transit. Documents and databases encrypted at rest, with keys under the bank's control.

Disaster recovery

Replication from the primary site to the DR site, documented recovery procedures and support for your DR drills.

Built around SBP expectations

Designed with the State Bank of Pakistan's IT governance, cyber security and outsourcing requirements in mind, so your information security and compliance teams can map controls during review. We share architecture and control documentation with your teams before installation.

Integrations

  • Active Directory / LDAPSingle sign-on, user provisioning and group-based roles.
  • EmailNotifications, reminders and approvals by email through your mail server.
  • Core banking, HRMS and ERPCustomer, account, employee and vendor data through your enterprise service bus.
  • E-signatureSigning through a licensed certification service provider.

§ 05

Deployment

Installed at your sites,
rolled out in phases.

We work with your IT, information security and legal teams from the first workshop to go-live, and we stay on after it.

  1. 01

    Discovery

Workshops with Legal, Procurement, Risk and IT. We document your contract types, approval matrix, forums and reports, and agree the configuration.

  2. 02

    Installation at PR and DR

SAPLZ is installed on your servers at the primary and DR sites, integrated with your directory and mail, and put through your security review and UAT.

  3. 03

    Phase one

The contract lifecycle goes live first, usually with one or two divisions. Legacy contracts are migrated and made searchable.

  4. 04

    Phase two

Litigation follows: the existing docket is loaded, panel counsel are onboarded and provisions are brought into the system.

  5. 05

    Run and support

Training for users and administrators, local support from Islamabad, and regular updates installed with your change management process.

Primary and DR from day one

SAPLZ is installed at both sites before anyone uses it in earnest. The database and document store replicate continuously, and the DR site is tested as part of acceptance, not after go-live.

Everything runs inside the bank's network. The AI model server sits next to the application, so no document has to travel to reach it.

§ 06

Questions we
are often asked

Is SAPLZ available as a cloud service?

SAPLZ is built for on-premises installation at the bank's own primary and DR sites. That is the deployment we recommend for regulated institutions in Pakistan.

Does the AI assistant send our documents anywhere?

No. The language model runs on a server inside your network. Contracts and case files are processed there and are not sent to any external AI provider. The assistant can also be switched off entirely.

Can we bring in our existing contracts and case files?

Yes. Migration is part of each rollout phase. Scanned documents are run through OCR so they become searchable, and key metadata is captured during the migration.

Can we use only contracts, or only litigation?

Yes. The two modules work on their own and are stronger together, for example when a dispute arises under a contract already in the repository.

Will it follow our approval matrix and delegation of authority?

Yes. Approval routes are configured from your delegation of authority during discovery, and administrators can change them later without a software release.

Can external panel counsel use it?

Counsel can be given limited access to the cases assigned to them, to update hearing outcomes and next dates and to submit bills, if your security policy allows it. Otherwise your staff record updates on their behalf.

Does it support Urdu documents?

Talk to us about your document mix during discovery. We will confirm what search and extraction can do on your actual Urdu and bilingual files before you commit.
